I run GetLostPGH on my own, and I believe in being upfront and transparent. Whether you’re buying one of my spooky Pittsburgh books, commissioning a custom house history, booking a private “Walk With Me” experience, or attending a tour, these policies explain how I handle returns, refunds, privacy, and safety.

📚 Book Return Policy – GetLostPGH Pittsburgh

All book sales are final unless your copy is defective or damaged.

  • If your book arrives damaged or with a printing issue, email me at spookypgh (at) gmail.com within 7 days of purchase.
  • To qualify for a replacement or refund, the book must be returned in its original condition.
  • Refunds are issued to your original payment method once I receive the returned item.
  • Shipping costs are non-refundable.

🏠 House History Research Refund Policy – Pennsylvania

My House History & Neighborhood Snapshot service is a flat-fee project. Because the historical record is unpredictable, here’s what you can expect:

  • Flat Fee – The cost covers my time, research, and a written report, regardless of outcome.
  • Scope of Research – I review property records, maps, newspapers, and archives. I create a written summary of what I find (or confirm if no records exist) and provide current photographs of the home and surroundings.
  • No Guarantee of Findings – Not every home leaves a paper trail. I can’t guarantee discoveries, but I can guarantee that I’ll dig into the sources available.
  • Refunds –
    • I don’t offer full refunds since the fee reflects the time and work that go into the project.
    • If no historical information turns up, you’ll still receive:
      • A list of sources I consulted
      • Photographic documentation
      • Suggestions for next steps
    • If I can’t even begin the research (due to restricted archives or other barriers), I’ll refund 50%.

🚶‍♀️ Walk With Me Policy – Private Walking Experience

If you book a private “Walk With Me” experience, here’s how it works:

  • Non-Refundable – Your payment reserves my time and isn’t transferable to another date.
  • Rescheduling – If you need to reschedule, let me know at least 48 hours in advance. I’ll do my best to fit you in once, based on availability.
  • Weather – Walks are held rain or shine, unless it’s unsafe (like lightning or flooding). Unsafe weather will result in a reschedule.
  • Participation – Please wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. We’ll be outside, and sidewalks in Pittsburgh can be uneven.
  • Risk – By booking, you accept the normal risks of walking (traffic, weather, uneven ground). I’m not responsible for accidents, injuries, or lost belongings.

👻 Spooky Tour & Event Ticket Policy – Pittsburgh

  • Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Tours run rain or shine — no refunds for weather.
  • If I have to cancel (unsafe weather, illness), tickets will be rescheduled or credited.
  • No refunds for missed tours, late arrivals, or early departures.

Photography & Media Consent

  • By attending, you agree that I may take photos or short videos for promotional purposes.
  • If you’d prefer not to be photographed, please tell me at the start of the tour.

Assumption of Risk

  • Tours may happen at night and may involve dark streets, stairs, and uneven sidewalks.
  • By attending, you accept those risks and agree that I’m not liable for injuries, losses, or damages.

If you order a book, commission a house history, or book a walk with me, I collect only the information I need to process your purchase and communicate with you.

  • Information I Collect – Your name, email, and payment details. My site may also automatically collect things like your IP address, browser type, and cookies.
  • How I Use It – To fulfill your order, communicate with you, improve my site, and (if you’ve opted in) send marketing updates.
  • Sharing – I don’t sell or rent your personal information. I only share what’s necessary with service providers (like payment processors or shipping partners).
  • Cookies – I use cookies for site functionality and analytics. You can disable them in your browser, though some features may not work.
  • Your Rights – You can request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data anytime by emailing spookypgh (at) gmail.com.

  • General Use – You must be 18+ (or with a guardian) to use my services. Don’t use the site or my services unlawfully.
  • Products & Services – I do my best to keep descriptions, pricing, and availability accurate, but they may change without notice. I may refuse service or cancel an order at my discretion.
  • Intellectual Property – All writing, photos, and content on spookypgh.com belong to me. Please don’t copy or reproduce them without permission.
  • Limitation of Liability – I’m not responsible for damages resulting from use of my site, book sales, house history projects, or event participation (except where prohibited by law).
  • Governing Law – These terms follow the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Changes – I may update these policies over time. By continuing to use my site or services, you agree to the latest version.
