About Meghan Snatchko, Writer, Walker, Tour Guide

Hey!
I’m Meghan but I also answer to Meggie Ess and GetLostPGH on my socials. I am a writer, a mother, and a relentless walker of streets. I earned my MLIS (Masters of Library and Information Sciences) at the University of Pittsburgh in 2006, and though I left library work in 2018, those research skills still shape everything I do today. Paired with a love of exploring by foot, they’ve turned me into a sort of local history detective. I’ve spent years wandering Pittsburgh and its neighborhoods with my camera phone in hand, collecting the overlooked details and telling the forgotten stories woven into the city’s bones.
What started as a personal project to walk every street in Pittsburgh became something larger: a roundabout way of uncovering the stories that don’t always make it into guidebooks. I fall face first into archives, old newspapers, and public records, then bring those fragments together with photography and narrative. The result is part history, part storytelling, part detective work.
When I’m not researching, writing, or walking down an overlooked alley, I’m probably in my backyard office with a stack of overdue library books, at the gym with friends, or wrangling my six sons (two human, four furry).
You can follow my work here, on social media as @GetLostPGH, or by checking out my writing with The Wood Shed Writers.
