About Meghan Snatchko

Hey!
I’m Meghan but I also answer to Meggie Ess and GetLostPGH on my socials. I am a writer, a mother, a walker of streets, and the voice behind GetLostPGH. I’ve spent years exploring the streets of Pittsburgh, Sewickley, and Coraopolis with my camera phone in hand, collecting overlooked details and telling forgotten stories.
What started as a personal project to walk every street in Pittsburgh became something larger: a way of uncovering the histories that don’t always make it into textbooks. I dig into archives, old newspapers, and public records, then bring those fragments together with my photography and writing. The result is part history, part storytelling, part detective work.
My work includes:
-
Walking Tours & Booklets — like Sewickley Secrets, a self-guided walking tour blending historic research with local legends. In the fall, you can find me leading tours in collaboration with the Sewickley Public Library. (2025 tours are already sold out! 👻)
-
Creative Nonfiction & Essays — reflective writing rooted in place, memory, and overlooked corners of everyday life.
-
Photography — images of Pittsburgh’s streetscapes, architecture, and small unnoticed details.
When I’m not researching, writing, or walking, I’m probably in my backyard office with a stack of overdue library books, at the gym with friends, or wrangling my six sons (two human, four furry).
You can follow my work here, on social media as @GetLostPGH, or by checking out my writing with The Wood Shed Writers.
